H2Excellence Highlighted in Recent Article on Finland’s Clean Energy Transition

The H2Excellence was highlighted in a recent article titled “Länsirannikko – Suomen puhtaan siirtymän veturi” on Calcus which discusses the West Coast of Finland’s pivotal role in the nation’s clean energy transition. The article emphasizes the region’s advancements in green hydrogen technology and its contributions to sustainable energy initiatives.

Mrs. Marja-Riitta Vest, Director of RDI and Business Services at Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK) emphasized the importance of cooperation in clean energy solutions and the hydrogen economy. VAMK coordinates several projects, including “H2Excellence” which aims to develop hydrogen economy expertise and competitiveness in Finland.

Dr. Karna Dahal, Project Manager for H2Excellence project at VAMK, explained that the project is creating training programs and an online learning platform for hydrogen technology. The initiative includes physical and virtual laboratories to support vocational and higher education.

Mr. Pertti Miettunen, Project Manager at Business Kristiinankaupunki highlighted the Coastal Hydrogen Innovation Hub – Kristiinankaupunki project (CHIH-K) which strengthens local expertise and trains the workforce in hydrogen technology.

Mr. Kjell-Owe Ahlskog, Project Manager for CHIH-K project at VAMK has identified the expertise and resources needed by companies such as process managers and engineers. The project has received support from Sweden where a similar initiative is already advanced.
