First Piloting of the H2Excellence Hydrogen Microcredential was successfully organized at the University of Málaga

The University of Málaga (UMA) has successfully completed the first official piloting of its Hydrogen Technologies Microcredential, developed and delivered within the framework of the H2Excellence project. The microcredential represents an important milestone in the project’s efforts to strengthen hydrogen-related skills and competencies across Europe through innovative and flexible learning pathways.

The programme brought together students and professionals seeking advanced knowledge in hydrogen technologies, one of the key enabling sectors of Europe’s green energy transition. Feedback from participants highlighted a high level of satisfaction with both the content and the learning experience, demonstrating the relevance of specialized training in this rapidly evolving field.

The course concluded with a special guest lecture delivered by Prof. Anh Tuan Hoang from the University of Transport Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. His presentation, entitled “Design and Optimization of Hydrogen Production with Machine Learning,” explored the growing role of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the design, optimization, and scaling of hydrogen production processes.

The closing lecture provided valuable insights into how digital technologies can accelerate the development and deployment of sustainable energy solutions. Participants had the chance to learn about new ways to combine hydrogen technologies with advanced data-driven methods. This shows how energy systems of the future will be based on many different fields.

The successful completion of this first microcredential pilot demonstrates the potential of short, targeted learning programmes to address emerging skills needs in the hydrogen sector. It also represents an important step towards the broader H2Excellence objective of creating high-quality educational opportunities that connect learners, educators, researchers, and industry stakeholders across Europe.

H2Excellence congratulates the University of Málaga and Prof. Olga Guerrero-Pérez on this achievement and thanks Prof. Anh Tuan Hoang for sharing his expertise with participants during this important milestone event.
