The hydrogen scenario in Spain
Spain has set itself the objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050 as part of a European Green Deal. In this scenario, renewable hydrogen represents a pivotal sustainable solution for decarbonisation, as well as for fostering innovative industrial value chains in Spain and the EU. This will facilitate the implementation of a green economy with high added value.
Spain is ideally positioned to establish hydrogen clusters, including the Andalusian Valley of Green Hydrogen (Valle Andaluz del Hidrógeno Verde) located in the south of the country and other significant projects, such as the Energy Cluster of the Valencia Region in the east or the Basque Corridor of Green Hydrogen (Corredor Vasco del Hidrógeno Verde), located in the north. These three initiatives, along with numerous others spanning the entire hydrogen value chain, collectively reinforce Spain’s prominence in the field of hydrogen development.
