A renowned Malaga (Spain)-based newspaper “SUR” has published news highlighting the University of Malaga (UMA)’s recent achievement in securing the H2Excellence project, an initiative supported by the European Union (EU). With titled “La Unión Europea selecciona la UMA para formar en el uso de hidrógeno verde” (The European Union selects UMA to train in the use of green hydrogen), the news emphasizes the significant role that UMA will play in advancing the development and education on green hydrogen technology.
The project aims to establish a center for vocational excellence in the fields of green hydrogen and fuel cells “H2Excellence Cove” in Malaga and Spain which will serve as a training and research hub for this green energy field. The newspaper explains that green hydrogen is produced through the electrolysis of water using renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power which makes it an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels.
Prof. Olga Guerrero-Pérez, a prominent figure at the University of Malaga, featured on the front page of “SUR” was interviewed to discuss the project’s objectives. She highlighted the potential of green hydrogen to transform the energy landscape and the role UMA will play in preparing future workforce in this field. The H2Excellence project will contribute to making Malaga, one of the key locations in Europe for green hydrogen education and innovation.
