The hydrogen scenario in Poland

The Polish Hydrogen Strategy, adopted in 2021, outlines the development of Poland’s hydrogen economy until 2030, with a vision for 2040. Its primary goal is to leverage hydrogen as a key component of the energy transition, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting renewable energy. The strategy prioritizes green hydrogen production, infrastructure development, and hydrogen refuelling stations, targeting key sectors like industry, transport, and energy. It also emphasizes international cooperation and innovation to enhance Poland’s competitiveness in Europe. To implement the strategy, the government introduced the Sectoral Agreement “Hydrogen Economy”, fostering collaboration among companies, industry organizations, research institutions, and public administration. Seven working groups, established by the Minister of Climate and Environment, address industry needs, societal expectations, and barriers to hydrogen adoption. These groups are creating action plans to accelerate the hydrogen transition, driving innovation and job growth in the sector.
